  1. Many of you know about the memorial tennis tournament that my family runs each year at the Eagle Ridge Tennis Club in North Salt Lake. I agreed to help Ardene's tennis team start the tournament after they approached me after her passing in 2009. Ardene played tennis at a very high level for many years and they wanted to do something to remember her. It has become a wonderful event run mostly by my children and Ardene's friends. I help line up sponsors each year and chair the foundation board. Each year all of the net proceeds and donations go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. We have a granddaughter who was diagnosed at age 2. I know many in the family have been touched by this insidious disease. Many of you have donated so much to the JDRF cause. Several Gardner family members help us a ton each year, Scott's Preston with printing and Kem's Matt with sponsorship and Greg twisting Roger Boyer's arm each year.

This is our third year running the tournament and an exhibition tennis match. We have grown each year. Our tournament this year will be one of the largest in the state with over 200 participants. Our exhibition match features former top international players Michael Chang playing Wayne Ferreira in singles and then playing former top players Luke Jensen and David Pate in doubles. It is a very fun event which will be held this year on Saturday the 18th of August at 5:00pm at the Eagle Ridge Tennis Club in North Salt Lake.

Sorry for the short notice. I just figured out how to enter a message on this thing. I would love to offer my cousins and spouses tickets to the event on Saturday. Just call me at 801 558-1250 or better yet text me so I have a record of how many you would like. You can go to www.oflovetournament.com for much more information, maps, tickets etc. Look for my girls on early morning TV advertising the event. The Governor is a tennis player and hit with the pros last year. He wants to come again. It should be a fun event with close to five hundred coming to watch.

Good to hear from so many of you on this terrific blog. I review it often. Thanks to those who sponsor it.
