Here are a couple of photos of William.  I have much greater respect for his wife Janet.  My memory of William is as follows.  He left Janet for the gold of California and I believe he took another wife with him.  Janet prayed every night that he would return and he eventually returned to Utah.  Now I am not sure I have this story exactly correct but that may encourage some of you to read about William and prove me wrong.  You might also find about the birth of Janet which is most interesting.  I will be visiting her birthplace this fall.  Her photo is also attached.

Good Luck,
Kendell

YMCA's Jan Smith

YMCA's Jan Smith is Recognized by 4-H as Afterschool Volunteer of the Year

Last weekend Jan Smith, YMCA of Northern Utah, Weber County Operations Director was awarded the 4-H Afterschool Volunteer Award on both the county and state level! The 4-H Afterschool Volunteer Award recognizes those who serve as an advocate promoting and supporting 4-H Afterschool in their communities.
Jan was recognized for her achievements at a awards dinner, as part of the Annual 4-H Leadermete event. This is what they said about her and her impact "Jan Smith has been working with the 4-H in Afterschool settings for over 23 years in Weber County.  From planning, teaching and training others, she has impacted almost 20,000 youth that may not otherwise have had the opportunity to be involved with 4-H.  Because of Jan, Afterschool sites are integrating 4-H into their regular programming.  Thank you, Jan for your dedication and tireless efforts on behalf of so many youth who now have 4-H experiences."
Congratulations Jan!
