Claude Leslie Bullard

Claude Leslie Bullard
December 14, 1924 to July 27, 2010
CLINTON - Our beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2010.
He was born on December 14, 1924 in Carthage, North Carolina to William and Ester Mann Bullard, one of fifteen brothers and sisters. He left home in 1941 to join the US Marine Corps at the beginning of World War II. He fought with the 1st Marine Division throughout the Pacific Campaign. In April, 1944 he returned to San Diego, CA to recuperate from Malaria. He met and married a beautiful young Marine from Star Valley, Wyoming, Genevieve Gardner. Soon after their marriage he returned to the Pacific and was on the Armada headed for Japan when the war ended. After the war he fell in love with Genevieve’s large family, their mountains and their religion. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sealed to Gen in the Salt Lake Temple in 1957. Together they raised eight children and have 43 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
He raised his family primarily in Roy, Utah where he served in numerous church callings including Bishop, High Councilor and as a Stake Missionary. He loved the Gospel and tried to show faith and obedience in all he was asked to do. He served a full time Mission for the church with his wife in the Tulsa, Oklahoma Mission from 1995 to 1996.
He exemplified the best character of those in the “Greatest Generation”. He took on life as it came, and simply worked his way through. His ability and desire to work hard is a legacy for his posterity. He worked in the mines of Wyoming and later spent 33 years at Hill Air Force Base. Retirement was merely a time to find additional projects and people to help. He always had a large garden and orchard, and gladly gave most produce away after the needs of his family were met. Gen says that “he planted a flower wherever a flower would grow, in Roy, in the mission field or the sandy soil of Rock Springs Wyoming".
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Genevieve Gardner Bullard, children Kathie (Steve) Smith, L Kirk (Kristine) Bullard, Kerry G (Joyce) Bullard, Lonnie M Bullard, A Steven Bullard, Corey D (Ana) Bullard, Troy D (Shelly) Bullard and Kristie (Robb) Walker. Also survived by 42 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by all but three siblings, by a daughter-in-law Ardene Ressler Bullard and a granddaughter Krystal Dawn Walker.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m, at the Clinton 13th Ward, 1708 West 800 North Clinton, Utah. Friends and family may call on Sunday, August 8, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West Roy, Utah, and on Monday August 9, 2010, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Interment in the Roy City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded.
The family wishes to express thanks to all who cared for Dad, especially to his daughter Kristie who lovingly cared for him in her home for many years.

Linda Update

Linda did not break her back. She had fallen and broke her pelvis. This is still a serious injury and has been very painful. She is in the Salt Lake Regional Hospital, room 334, located on South Temple in SLC and may be there for the next month or two. Our hopes and prayers are with Linda. Get well soon.
